There is a taboo about talking about the real things in life ~ like if we admit that we are so ephemeral and subject so forces of which we are not in control, that somehow it speeds up the evolution of us all and the game can no longer be played. It’s like the curtain covering the Wizard becomes obsolete. Yet, the only one who suffers is the wizard! Everyone else gets to breathe a sigh of relief that the whole damn thing is made-up. There are no ghouls, goblins, witches, and impossible tasks – only those we feed with our belief! Why is the wizard able to do this? What great power does he have that enables him to get others to do his bidding? He sees that we want to be taken care of. That we want help to go home. That we are lost and cannot find our heart, our mind, our courage, or our way. yes. yes. yes. Yet it took the tiniest dog with the biggest name (toto or “all”) in the movie version of “The wizard of Oz” to venture behind the curtain to have a peek – revealing the whole scam. When, in our wholeness, we demand the truth – we become mighty. It doesn’t matter our size or courage. It matters that we claim our wholeness – which is no match for wizard – a metaphor for the conditioned mind. One ounce of wholeness, when used with the force of our will and intention, can uncover the whole charade. Stepping into the truth must follow, for claiming our wholeness is a grace uncommon that you grant to yourself, and once you begin to claim each next step, no matter how feebly or faltering, freedom must follow in your footsteps. To claim grace is to become so disillusioned (distant from illusion) that the illusion itself is empowered to change, and you could care less. When will we speak freely to each other about what matters the most? When will we be free to admit that we are here, that we exist ~ that and nothing else ~ and so to discover what can be known no other way?
I just finished a weekly musical enrichment lesson with my student, Darian. In her honor, her mom wrote a review of our time together here:
A dear friend of mine and my daughter, Darian, introduced us to Katie and her musical abilities. To those who may not know us, Darian was hit by a drunk driver several years ago. She spent 7 months in a coma and has a traumatic brain injury. Along with having a beautiful voice, Katie is also a composer. Darian and I look forward to our weekly Zoom visits with Katie. She is so intuitive and capable of bringing us what we need from her music on those days. We love being in the moment with Katie during our visits. She has enriched our lives and we are honored by her presence. Darian and I both love our time with her and I love watching Darian interact with Katie in such a loving and fun way. Love, Libby Aira
Although Darian’s story has its low points, I don’t see Darian or Libby staying there. I see them weekly, brushing the dust off of their sleeves, in a matter of speaking, and open to the fun times that we can have through music and communion in the heart-space. So, in honor, I share this recording of “Hello, Dolly” except I will be inserting “Darian” for Dolly, since this is the song that was song to her when she finally did come out of that coma. Her life, to many, may be seen as severely limited in a physical sense, yet Darian has a glorious sense of truth and freedom which she shares generously. Her voice, to my ears, is beautiful. Without further ado:
Leaving behind expectations has allowed a depth a freedom that I capitalize on in my life. Isn’t this the way for all of us? As soon as we stop fighting the mind and allow our presence to bubble up, life becomes clear and unfettered. The to-do lists seem less important than the simplicity of watching IT, LIFE, unfold.
Today I understood that my “worry” about my Sounding business was a source of nonsense. It is what it is right now! I have had a year of deep journeying into the heart of Sound and sharing it with the individuals around the world. Some sessions were glorious and absolutely awe inspiring, while one or two left me thinking “what just happened?”
And, upon inspection, there was always an unspoken expectation, or glossing over some essential ingredient – like mutuality. It is so courageous to work with Sound, since we are exposed as what we are: vibrational beings, with no place to hide, and truly, nothing to hide! You can shake what you are NOT off of your gorgeous being!
This suits me perfectly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. It means that the perfection of the unfoldment of my life and work is perfect, without a hitch, as long as I let expectations go and stay put, in my I AM essence, so to speak, breathing.
Can you relate? Have you had expectations of yourself and your life? Have you forgot to notice, to recognize, how essential your essence IS and how there really is nothing to do but abide in this awareness, not matter what anyone else, or the mind, says?
Many people think the work is too easy/too hard, what have you, and yet the reality is that it is accessible when you do not fight the mind, and flow with the inner sense of freedom from any and all concepts. There is no other, so there is no service, just being where LIFE Is calling without attachment, this moment. And then again, this moment: and so it goes.
And by LIFE, I mean frequency, vibration, love of presence that is effortless because it relies on nothing, is dependent on nothing, not even your physicality, except as a vehicle of consciousness.
This year of depth and deepening is the unknown life, where I do not need to come up for air, and I share it consciously without expectation. I invite you to observe the depth of the Presence of your Essence, as you shift into the knowledge and awe of your vibration.
I want for you to experience the blisses and harmonies of exacting these states of awareness from the moments of your life, and the ability to flow with them as LIFE recreates itself through you. I have heard from various folks how this work has enriched their lives, D.W. from Michigan has equated it to “going to a spa for your Soul”. May it be so.
As always, if you would like to have a free conversation to share in the ideas and practices espoused in the work I do with individuals and groups, reply to my email: firstname.lastname@example.org and let’s have that heart to heart that stirs you to your depths where your inner song lives and vibrates so lovingly for you.
